Well, our Auburn Girls Book Club has been around for about 10 years, so we decided it must be time for a spring party/reunion. So, we all got dressed up in our favorite little black dresses, prepared a brunch dish, and we trekked down Highway 14 to 'Poka. KJ hosted our Breakfast at Tiffany's themed soiree out in the country, and fun was had by all.
Those in attendance included myself, KJ, Summer, Malee, Katie F, Lisa, Kathy, Bethel, Heidi, Traci, Pepper, and Michelle (our photographer). It was a highly successful turn out, although we were missing some loved members due to other obligations: Carmen, Jenifer, Candace, Ashley, Virginia, Sharry, Anna, Laura, and Jill. Of course, we are always missing our in absentia member, Meri T, who is terribly busy conquering the academic world of business.
The pitchers of mimosas and bloody marys were replenished often, as were our glasses. We feasted on pigs in a blanket, blueberry french toast casserole, cheese grits, fruit salsa, sausage and egg casserole, Bethel's famous blue cheese dressing and relish tray, just to name a few of our delectable treats. One thing you can always count on at one of our book club functions is the fabulous food and the free flowing drinks a plenty!
Our conversations most certainly solved the great problems of the world, I'm sure. All life changing topics were covered today, including......well, maybe I shouldn't tell you that. I wouldn't want to ruin the cache of the most sought after Book Club in town.
Our most exciting attendee was Traci Ferguson, a former book clubber and dear friend, who came all the way from her new hometown of Tuscaloosa to make the party. Her shoes were absolutely fabulous, but, unfortunately, she had the good taste to keep them on for the duration of the party, so I did not have the opportunity to steal them.
Did you notice that I didn't mention any book titles, here? Yeah, we don't always get to the book part of Book club.......oh well, as long as we know what's really important about having a great group of girl friends that you can always count on. When husbands, babies, jobs, and life in general take over, it's important to know that we'll always make time for each other with our monthly meeting. So often, I come up for a breath to realize that my personal friendships get neglected as I drown myself in work and immediate family. We have to remind ourselves that a group of girl friends is necessary for one's sanity.
Many thanks to KJ for hosting us, and thanks to everyone for making time in your busy schedules to attend. See you next month at Summer's!
For those of you thinking the picture above is a little too dignified, you will see our true colors coming out in the pictures below. Once we take the good picture, KJ can never resist a couple of CRAZY shots. As you can tell, they are our favorites.
Love to all,
Katie
